Nature Hike on the Vernal Pools and Grassland Reserve

Need a break from classes, but don’t want to venture too far from your studies?

Join Reserve Naturalist on Friday, September 29, 2017, for a hike (8:30 am to 11:00 am) through the UC Merced Vernal Pools and Grassland Reserve to take your mind off usual routine.  The 6,500 acre Natural Reserve is right next to campus.  Come see the reserve’s incredible ecological transformation since last spring!  Coyotes and brush rabbits are sure to be seen.  Tarantulas may also be out in preparation for their fall mating season.  Bring a day pack with water bottle, camera, binoculars, and make sure to wear walking shoes.  Meet at 8:30 am sharp at the entrance gate on Rancher's Road, 50 yards north of the Student Services Building.  No fee.  Limited to 20, but a reservation is required.  Open to all.  To reserve a space and for more information, contact Michael Spaeth at mspaeth@ucmerced.edu.
